President Obama has promised that “We will make sure that we get answers to every single question about this horrible incident,” and there are certainly a lot of questions to be answered. According to the New York Times, the shooter was “mortified” about deploying, and even reports that he hired a lawyer to try to get out of the military. The FBI was monitoring web postings by a person of the same name that defended suicide bombers.
It’s too early to know the full story, and I’m not really interested in a lot of speculation right now. I trust Obama when he says the incident will be fully investigated, and I have a feeling it’s going to pose a couple of tough questions for our military.
I’m going to hold the rest of today’s posts until mid-afternoon. At the moment, it seems to me that political squabbling can wait a while.

Terrible tragedy, and another one in a Florida office building today. Very sad for everyone.
And of course, the right tries to link him to Obama (and fails miserably):

Yet another example of the differences between the left and right. The left doesn't do this (unless, of course, it's true).
Hmmm….
So the World Net Daily, the home to the 9/11 moral depravity theories and the Obama citizenship "scandal" is the standardbearer for the right? This guy is widely known as a lunatic. And nobody, nowhere on the left has ever done anything like this?
That is quite a claim, and quite a generalization.
Corsi made the claim, not the WND. Lunatic? Not according to the mainstream right-wing. He's published two bestsellers. I agree he's as much a lunatic as Coulter or O'Reilly, but he's beloved by those people.
How convenient. Beloved by the masses, but when he betrays his true hatred for the opposition by baselessly attempting to link a mass-murderer to the president, suddenly he's a lunatic.
I call bullshit on him, and your claim, Dtm.
Why did it take Obama over 2 minutes into his press conference to make the announcement about the Fort Hood shooting (out of a total 6 minutes speech). And, he was upbeat in those 2 minutes and even gave a Shout Out to an audience member. I don't doubt that he feels its a tragedy but his reaction seems strange. Given how many people voted for him for his suaveness and ability to speak, I would be saying, I want my Hope and Change back, please.
I heard that Commie Bastard actually wants children to study hard and stay in school… the audacity of that man makes me want to have my vote back. How did you feel about Bush's timely performance on 9/11? I'm pretty certain you were defending his continuing to read "My Little Goat" while New York City burned. Just like you defended Bush ignoring a CIA memo headed "Bin Laden determined to attack in North America" with the words "OK you've covered your ass, now get out." If two minutes bothers you then anything the Obama does is going to bother you.
WBS, give it a rest.
The double standard is proven with your comment. Bush was criticized but Obama should not be?
Your reaction is more than starnge, it is ghoulish. Trying to make political hay out of anything surrounding this — whether it's jkust the President's reaction, or anything else — shows a complete lack of decency on your part.
And don't give me the old "what about what you guys said about Bush and 9/11?" crap. There is a big difference between a lone person's killing spree and an attack on he nation that had been warned about.
Rancy, soyou're one of those conspiracy theorists that Bush knew about 911. You and Van Jones would get along great. Glad to see the radical fringe of the left is still alive and kicking.
Obama is the spokesperson for the American people when tragedy strikes. I AM a decent person and Obama certainly did not represent me or the American people well in his reaction.
My, but you paint with a broad brush.
No, I do not believe that Bush knew about 9/11. Yes, I believe he was warned about the possibility of such a terror attack, and yes, I believe he was too distracted by other priorities to do anything about it.
You are not a decent person. Deal with it.
I don’t blame Obama for his inappropriate “shout out” or using the shooting to advance his political agenda. Or going to Camp David instead of Fort Hood… I blame the Amercan people who voted him into office and giving him the power to do so.
He should have flown over in Air Force One on his way to vacation at his ranch.
Maybe he didn't go to Fort Hood because of security concerns? Or he didn't want to get in the way of the investigation?
Whom do we blame for idiots like you?
WoHoo! Check out those photos, righties. Your new Sarah Palin has made her introduction!
Here's an observation, Pete:
When the right criticizes the left, they more often than not criticize the Public Official. Leaders like Pelosi, Reid, and of course Obama are used as examples. Barney Frank is a frequent target. Kucinich used to be when he was relevant.
But when the left criticizes the right, I usually hear as the example people who don't serve. People who are basically entertainers. Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, and now Corsi.
If you're going to generalize, generalize using people who actually lead the party and make policy. It accurate to point out how Bachmann is out of touch. She has been elected and is viewed as an emerging leader of the party. But Corsi? Coulter? They sell books, but they have no bearing on public service.
It seems that so often the critic is guilty of the very logic they are criticizing. Corsi made the cheep and intellectually invalid connection between the apparent criminal in this case and Obama. Pete repeats this type of mistake by painting "the right" in their entirety with the views of one individual. It is similar to claiming that anybody DTM might consider "left" is guilty of supporting the actions of those few workers involved in the recent ACORN scandal or that voting for Bill Clinton means you support workplace harassment and infidelity. These types of arguments are intellectually dishonest and unfortunately seem to represent the primary type of public political discourse.
You guys are hopeless. Hopeless.

Name ONE instance where Democratic members of congress publicly compared a republican proposal to Nazi death camps and encouraged mindless harassment of and possibly violence against the government. I'll wait…
