With his prospect of winning the 23rd Congressional District race now almost zero, Conservative Party candidate Douglas L. Hoffman suggested Wednesday in a letter that “ACORN, the unions and the Democratic Party” “tampered” with results to deny him victory.
Mr. Hoffman provided no evidence to support his claims, but asked fellow conservatives to send donations his way to “ensure every vote is counted.”
It seems that all votes in NY-23 were not completely reported on election night, leading Hoffman to concede. Now that the votes are being properly recanvassed, Hoffman is… still losing. There’s no actual evidence that ACORN has anything to do with this, but let’s be honest: Is it really possible that New York voters rejected Hoffman’s angry, fear-mongering politics? Of course not. It’s much more likely that this is yet another evil plot of ACORN’s.
It’s not just Hoffman, either. ACORN must have been involved in pretty much every election that a Republican has lost over the past few years. After all, we know that the voters love patriotic Republicans and hate communist, America-hating Democrats, so there’s only one explanation. ACORN was even responsible for stealing the 2008 election for Barack Obama:
The new national poll from Public Policy Polling (D) has an astonishing number about paranoia among the GOP base: Republicans do not think President Obama actually won the 2008 election — instead, ACORN stole it.
…only 27% say Obama actually won the race, with 52% — an outright majority — saying that ACORN stole it, and 21% are undecided.
So there you have it. Sure, there’s no evidence, but it seems obvious. Any time something happens that you don’t like, ACORN is behind it. They used to be such a benign, uncontroversial group, too. It’s too bad they abandoned their primary focus of advocating affordable housing and turned to evil.

If ACORN didn't do it, it's obvious that Wall Street and Big Business did. They are usually behind anything and everything.
We should start a tally. We could look at the extraordinary redistribution of wealth to the wealthy elite in the last 30 years and see whose at fault for that, Wall street or Acorn. We could look at which political party has legislated that redistribution of wealth. Who has profited more in the last 30 years and which political party has pushed for that.
Goodbye DtM. Everytime someone calls him out on his ridiculous right wing talking points, he disappears.
Before the scrubbing of the site, ACORN bragged about registering almost a million voters in 2008 in the US. I'm still trying to figure out how that turns into them stealing the national election for Obama, locally for Franken and every other Democrat that has won since 2008.

Forgot to mention: For the original version of the song, replace 'Acorn' with 'Clinton' (Bill).
Funny how history repeats itself.
There's a mortgage crisis caused mostly by big finance and de-regulation
— — Quick blame it on poor and colored folk taking out loans, we know they wont' defend themselves
There's a jobs crisis created by loss of industrial base due to unfair trade and businesses offshoring.
— — -Quick, blame it on immigrants, we know they don't have the ability to defend themselves
I know these are oversimplified examples, but it is just amazing that corporate America can rape us blind as a country and then convince 50% of us that it was the poor and powerless who are destroying this country.
Quite frankly, the Right's bizarre and disproportionate (not to mention hypocritical, given there is far more evidence of vote-tampering from the Right than the Left…) fixation on ACORN does them a disservice. Clearly, ACORN isn't responsible for all the evils (aka- non-compliance with Right-wing orthodoxy) ascribed to it. As long as ACORN takes all the flack, other organizations supporting "evil" (aka- non-compliance with Right-wing orthodoxy) will operate under the radar. As someone who supports "evil" (aka- non-compliance with Right-wing orthodoxy), this pleases me, as it gives us a strategic advanage.

Let's just ask the question this way. If "Walnut" was a right wing activist group doing business in exactly the same manner as Acorn, would it just be oky doky with the left. Don't be a hypocrite, answer honestly.
I was called out on "right wing talking points"? Hmmm. I am either naive or aloof.
Let's face it, Richard and DJZ. If there was a statement that began "American corporations disagree with legislation that would xyz xyz xyz xyz", you would very likely have a kneejerk reaction to agree with that same legislation. Wouldn't matter what xyz equalled.
But this thread is about ACORN, I guess, so I'll shut up. I don't love nor hate ACORN. The obviously should be held to the same standards as other nonprofits who claim to be nonpartisan, which I doubt anyone disagrees with.
CMan,
Let's be honest, if "KDR" was a company run by Al Gore that electrocuted troops, murdered civilians on the battlefield, raped its employees, and defrauded us of 100's of millions, would the right wingers care?
An anti-poverty group needs to shape up but you want to destroy it.
A military contractor is truly stealing from us as well as killing troops and all I hear from you is crickets.
Of course. But a right-wing activist group helping the poor to exercise their constitutional right to vote? Ha! Absurd.
It would never happen. The Right Wing looses win poor people vote. They have nothing to offer them but condescension. They need to show the poor and minorities as the enemy, or at least the fair policies that would help them as being wrong.
How about you answer this question honestly:
1) Do you hate ACORN because they have a few shady people and it needs to be cleaned up
2) or do you hate ACORN because they try to register underrepresented voters, which tend to vote democratic? We all know that conservatives want as few people to vote as possible because it reduces their chances of being elected. This fight against ACORN is all about trying to reduce voters. Saying otherwise is dishonest and lying.
My main point CMan, is why does corruption at something so minuscule as ACORN cause such rage while corruption on a grand scale is actually encouraged by conservatives.
see above and spin it.
it's obvious that Wall Street and Big Business did.
You are neither naive or aloof but you are a moron. We are witness to a plundering of a nations wealth by a small minority and, although the numerical data is there for everyone to see, you choose to ignore it. Because you have benefited from that plunder, you are more then happy to defend it. Damn the consequences, I've got a pool. As much as I regret it, you relish in it. Have fun in church tomorrow.
That's what I thought. When you can't answer a question, you spin it with your own bull shit.
Here is your answer, CMan, the premise of your question pre-supposes that ACORN is a left wing activist group. For me to answer your question, you would have to show me one single right wing activist group that:
helps to fight poverty as it's mission
helps to work for housing for low income folks as its mission
helps to register underrepresented people to vote
If there was a right wing group like that, I would not try to destroy their entire organization out of petty bullshit. I might criticize them, yes, but destroy them, no.
Hate is your word, not mine. Acorn has been shown to be a corrupt organization from top to bottom. You could not answer my original question because you can't answer it honestly and keep in good standing with your far left ideologic pals. I'm all for representation of all people as long as it's fair and legal. And, for the record, I whole heartedly disagree with you that the actions and corruption of Acorn are "minuscule". This nation is close to 50/50 as we have seen from elections over the past years. So when tight races can be decided (or skewed) by dishonest and illegal organizations, democracy is not being served. As for corruption at all levels of government, the larger the bureaucracy, the more difficult it is to root it out. So, all of the promises to do so are nothing more than political speak.
I don't have a pool. My car has 100,000 miles on it. I live in an 80 year old house.
But I'm happy and I'm achieving my goals.
"Acorn has been shown to be a corrupt organization from top to bottom."
Untrue. No surprise there. A few low level employees have been convicted. There is NO evidence of systemic problems within ACORN.
Ya, I guess the founder's brother DIDN'T embezzle 1 million dollars and it WASN'T covered up by the top executives of the organization. Top to bottom! Get a clue!!
Ha - what'd I say? It is all corporate America's fault.
