The Minnesota GOP has been shopping around the lie that Mark Ritchie was Al Franken’s “guest” at the State of the Union last night. Of course, it’s completely false. That doesn’t stop Luke Hellier, however:
He links to this piece with the Politico which says:
Shameless. Yet another shining example of how the Minnesota GOP tries to create “news.”
Update: David Brauer digs deeper and gets this quote from Politico:
We received an anonymous tip re: Ritchie and due to a communication breakdown, this was incorrectly reported. I thought the error had been removed from all story references on the site. We are issuing a correction in the story the item appears.
So Politico screws up because someone lied to them and didn’t get the record straight from who they named as their source. Mark Ritchie wasn’t even at the SotU. Very interesting how quickly the MN GOP jumped on the story right between the time it got posted and got corrected. This story is bigger than a misquote: it sure seems like the MN GOP was fishing to get this story published with a lie.

Word Press was having problems….
It doesn’t need to be true, it just needs to be mud.
The quality of Minnesota’s GOP shows through in the fact that they chose Michael Brodkorb to be their Deputy Chair. As I’ve said in previous posts, the bottom has utterly dropped out of the Republican Party’s integrity.
Correction hell, this deserves a public apology for lying to the citizens of Minnesota and the nation. I am surprised that more is not done when such bad faith turns to smears and lies about political people.
Okay when are you going to correct your lie! On MDE is the picture of the politico website that showed it.
You just want to claim that it was a wrong report on purpose. Of course I seem to remember somebody on this website had predicted a big Obama win on the night of the New Hampshire primary and it was time to partee!
So it looks like since you can’t get your stories right 100% of the time all the time you don’t have a right to attack somebody when they’re wrong. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE IT IN WRITING ON WHAT THEY REPORTED. If you want to blame somebody blame Politico for getting it wrong.

Guys dont want to talk about the ass kicking you took in SD 26 right?
I am so ashamed that the DFL lost an election in SD26 where they have sent a Republican to the state legislature since before I was born. Oh the shame this very old liberal feels… I suppose asshat Republicans like that group in New Orleans trying screw with a sitting Senators office just need something to feel good about.
Change is on the way amuseinc. Change you can believe in!
This reminds me of that time that James Okeefe got arrested and everyone reported it was because he was trying to bug a senator’s phone.
Ahh, people and their rush to judgement.
Yes Lloyd,
Kind of like when they rushed to judgment on an anti-poverty group that had a few idiot employees.
The Minnesota Democrats Exposed blog is nothing more than the National Enquirer of non-factual news. The NE is a dirt rag that people lap up at the grocery stores for their sensational headlines. MDE has become the same.
What is amazing to me is that Politico.com ran with this story based on an unsubstantiated tip. No attempt at fact-checking, just relaying rumor.
Kathy (D) — What do you mean MDE has become the same as the National Enquirer? MDE has never even achieved the level of credibility of the National Enquirer! Maggotbreath Mike and sidekick Little Luke could only hope to see their little MDE rise to that level.
Kathy,
I’d like to remind you that the National Enquirer broke the story about John Edwards’ affair with another woman while his wife was diagnosed with incurable cancer. The same National Enquirer broke the story about how John Edwards was the biological father of said woman’s child. As it turns out, it’s people like John Edwards that are the scumbags and liars — not the National Enquirer.
