Okay, I’m not going to be getting one any time soon, because they start at $86,000, but after decades of waiting, there’s a company out there manufacturing a jet pack for consumer use.
The Jetpack achieves with 30 minutes of flight time and is fueled by regular premium gasoline, though you will undoubtedly earn some disbelieving stares at the petrol station. Since it has been built according to ultralight regulations no FAA recognized pilot’s license is required to fly one in the U.S., though this will depend on a country’s specific requirements. However, despite being significantly less complex than a helicopter to fly as pitch and roll are controlled by one hand, thrust and yaw by the other, Martin Aircraft won’t let anyone take receipt of their jetpack before completing their specially-developed Martin Aircraft Company approved training program.
Is it practical? No way.
Is it the awesomest thing ever? Yes. Yes it is.

I remember seeing a jet pack demonstration at the Olympics - In Mexico City in 1968. It didn’t take off then (pardon the pun), why should it now? This is just fluff.

I am TOTALLY going to get one of these things! I will either get that or the hover car made in Davis Calif. The only problem with the jet pack is yu can only have yu as the passenger! No fun…
I built a Pterodactyl ultralight and it would only have one person and it was fun but after flying for 3 years it kind of got old….
But on a Political side….And if you want to get bummed out.. Did you know that the feds are bailing out the banks, then giving them money at the Libor and they are buying bonds with that money making money on the difference and NOT giving you loans.. They are happy with a 50 spread and the Fed is letting them do this! Criminals! Pisses me off!
