Susan Allen wins DFL endorsement in 61B

Over the weekend, the House District 61B DFL held a convention to endorse a candidate to replace Jeff Hayden, who won a special election to replace Senator Linda Berglin last month. Attorney Susan Allen won the DFL endorsement.

The other candidates, Nelson Inz and Josh Bassais, pledged to abide by the endorsement. Because of the constrained schedule of the special election, they will remain on the ballot. However, both agreed to suspend their campaigns.

In a district like 61B, in the heart of Minneapolis, Allen’s endorsement and her opponents’ suspension of their campaigns basically clinches the election for her. Allen will be the only one campaigning in the primary, and it is almost inconceivable that the DFL candidate might lose the general election on January 10th.

Congratulations, Susan! I hope you’ll do our district proud.
