Sutton on the MNGOP’s failure to pay its debts: “It’s hard to raise money”

How in the world can the MNGOP claim to be the fiscally responsible party when they have Tony Sutton running the show? His fiscal mismanagement is really unbelievable. For instance, did you know that the MNGOP still owes several counties for the 2010 recount? The Post Bulletin reports:

“Since December, I’ve had repeated conversations about when we’ll get paid,” said Doug Groh, auditor/treasurer of Mower County. “I had no problem with the Democrats paying, but the Republicans are fudging, because they’re short of money — that’s what I was told in December.”

Since then, Groh said, he’s been told the invoice was lost; on three different occasions, he was told — literally — the check was in the mail.

This is completely unacceptable. This bill has been due for months. But how did Sutton react to the story? He blew up and blamed county officials for his own incompetence, calling it “unconscionable” that the county was demanding it be paid and offering the lamest excuse ever:

“It’s hard to raise money. It’s a recession; it’s the winter-time, and we’re doing the best we can. They’re going to get paid, that’s going to happen.”

Are you kidding me?? The bill is $2,242 dollars. If the MNGOP can’t even raise that amount, Mr. Sutton, you’ve really dug it into an even deeper hole than I thought.

Do your job, Mr. Sutton. The party has bills to pay. Pay them.
