Jobs, jobs, jobs? MNGOP will wade into social issues instead
We’re still waiting for the MNGOP jobs plan. At least I would hope that their budget, which cuts 30,000 jobs, isn’t all they have to offer. Increasingly, though, it looks like they’re just not interested in jobs. Instead, reporters on Twitter are indicating that the MNGOP may introduce an anti-marriage constitutional amendment today.

I’ll be hard at work at that time, so I wanted to offer my reaction in advance.
The MNGOP is on the wrong side of history here. Where should I even start? First of all, Minnesotans don’t want to hear about social issues right now. We want jobs. A legislature that focuses on anything but bringing jobs to Minnesota should be thrown out.
Second, Minnesotans, like all Americans, are evolving on the issue of equal marriage. A majority now support marriage, and the MNGOP is making a big mistake if they think Minnesotans support them in their bigotry. If they are foolish enough to put this amendment on the ballot, I look forward seeing their hate-based politics defeated in 2012.
