This shutdown is about special treatment for the rich

The MNGOP is committed to cutting billions of dollars from important public services like health care, funding for higher education, and local government aid that keeps property taxes down. But what’s so offensive about their budget is that they simultaneously insist that the richest Minnesotans should get special treatment.

I don’t believe for one minute that Minnesotans will stand for this. The Minnesota I know believes in fairness and justice, and I believe most Minnesotans would be appalled at the idea of slashing funding for health care and higher education so the rich can enjoy special low tax rates.

It’s not too late, Minnesota. Contact your legislators and tell them you want the rich to pay their fair share. Tell them to remember that they work for all of us, and it’s unconscionable to shut the state down to secure special perks for the top 2 percent.
